“God wont give you more than you can handle.”

“God wont give you more than you can handle.”

FALSE!!! Nowhere in the Bible does it say this. It DOES say there is nothing that GOD can’t handle and nothing is impossible with Him. Alone we aren’t strong enough to handle the things of this world that weigh us down, but thankfully we have Him to help us. To lift our burdens. To give us peace. To bring pure JOY.

I’m not going to lie. This year has not gone as I expected it to. Key word, I. This year did not come as a surprise to God. He saw it long before it ever happened. It has had more bad days than good it seems. It has been filled with trials and unknowns. It’s seen plenty of tears, probably a few cuss words...Sorry Lord... and more than I’d like to admit, doubt. And I’ve heard too many times... “God won’t give you more than you can handle.”

This year feels like more than I can handle. Ouch, did I just admit that?! Honestly, it is. If you ask my Husband, he will tell you the same. We have struggled. With our faith, with our son’s health, with our new life. It’s hard. But the truth is, God is good and He didn’t want us to go through this life relying on our own strength. You see this saying is meant to give comfort, but it actually can do the opposite. It can cause us to believe we can move this mountain on our own. And I’m sad to admit, that’s what I’ve been trying to do and I’ve ended up slammed up against the mountain. Scraped up. Bruised and hurt. The whole time, all I’ve had to do was lean into Him. Let Him help me carry this weight. Let Him show me the way. And stop being so dang stubborn.

I also don’t claim to understand His plan, but I do know He is working for our good. Even when we don’t understand, when we question and doubt - HE IS GOOD.

I don’t know what you are struggling with right this minute. I don’t know if you are trying to fight this battle alone or if you are laying it at His feet. But, I pray you lay it down right now, if you haven’t already. That you ask him to help you get over this mountain. That you no longer listen to the devils lie that you can do it alone. That you stand STRONG in your faith and face tomorrow with JOY. And that you share it with someone who can keep you accountable, check on you and pray with you. And if you don’t have someone, I’d be more than happy to be that person.
